Chris has been working as a lawyer since 2004. Prior to that he worked for Aon where he focused on the drafting of insurance conditions. He therefore has a thorough knowledge of the drawing up and reviewing of general (insurance) terms and conditions.

Chris switched to the legal profession from Aon. Given his background in the insurance world, he has always worked in insurance and liability law. In addition to liability matters he has considerable experience with (fire) recovery matters and damage caused by construction work. He also deals with matters in the field of directors’ and officers’ liability, and assists insurers in policy disputes including policy disputes on credit insurance and directors’ and officers’ (D&O) liability insurances. He furthermore advises on the broker's right to a portfolio.

Chris was born in Germany and lived there for several years. He writes and speaks German fluently and is well versed in German business customs. Chris is therefore regularly engaged by German insurers for insurance claims of loss or damage that also play a role in the Netherlands. He is also often engaged by Dutch insurers if an incident has German aspects. As a result he has acquired substantial knowledge of Private International Law on which he also advises and lectures. In addition, Chris publishes, gives talks and lectures on other subjects regularly.

Chris completed the Grotius Academy post-graduate programme Enterprise and Liability in 2010. Chris is a member of the Vereniging voor Verzekeringswetenschap (Dutch Association of Insurers), the Vereniging voor Aansprakelijkheids- en Schadevergoedingsrecht (Dutch Association of Liability and Compensation Law) and the Vereniging Corporate Litigation (Dutch Association of Corporate Litigation).
